Comprising the Metro 3rd are the cities of Victorias, Silay and Talisay and the municipalities of Enrique B. Magalona and Murcia.

Based on the 2015 data of the Philippine Statistics Authority, the district has a combined population of 461,284.

Fly to Negros Occidental and one touches down at the Bacolod-Silay International Airport, the main airport serving Negros Island. It sits on 181 hectares of land in Barangay Bagtic, Silay City.

Experience in Metro 3rd the charm of the old Negrense lifestyle preserved in the 29 ancestral homes found in Silay City, declared by the National Historical Institute as ‘National Treasures’. Silay, once known as the Paris of Negros takes pride as the city in the country that has the most declared and recognized ancestral domains.

 

Visit in Talisay City the Claparols Mansion, once known as the “Malacanang in Negros” – home of General Aniceto Lacson, revolutionary leader of the 1898 Negros Revolt and the world-famous “Ruins” built by Don Mariano Lacson for his beloved wife Maria Braga.

Silay is also home to Magikland, the first outdoor theme park in the Visayas.
Found in Metro 3rd are the country’s premier sugar mills – Victorias Milling Company in Victorias City; Hawaiian Philippine Company in Silay City; and First Farmers Milling Company in Talisay City.
All the cities and towns of the Metro 3rd are located within the Northern Negros Natural Park, a protected area under the National Integrated Protected Area System (NPAS) by virtue of Proclamation No. 895 signed by President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo in 2005.
The Northern Negros Natural Park known as a paradise of high biodiversity and balanced ecosystems, is home to luxuriant trees, endemic yet colorful flora and fauna but many are already endangered species.
The area holds the largest watershed water source of the province and the four major river systems – Malogo, Imbang, Himogaan and Bago Rivers.
Also within the park area is the island’s volcanic belt along Mount Silay, Mount Mandalagan, Mount Kanlaon and Mount Talinis. It is where two extensive mountain ranges lie – Mt. Silay mountain range and the Mt. Mandalagan mountain range.
Negros Occidental’s summer capital, the Mambukal Mountain Resort is located in the municipality of Murcia. It is located 1,200 ft. above sea level on 24 hectares of forest land that is at the foot of Mount Kanlaon. Offering the thrill of experiencing seven descending waterfalls, hot sulfur springs and the awesome sight of more than 4,0000 fruitbats hanging from age-old endemic trees, the resort is a favorite of both local and foreign visitors.
